Contemporary or Modern Kitchen Designs in Calgary

Ekko Custom Cabinetry & Design of Calgary, Alberta

Ekko Custom Cabinetry & Design would like to announce that we have secured a supply of premium quality contemporary and traditional design cabinetry from an all Canadian manufacturer who has been in business  since 1971.

Of special note, is we now have the capability to provide a superior quality polyester high gloss and satin low luster product in our contemporary designs. Polyester finishes provide some of the best durability and reflective quality products available in our industry.

Typically  Italy, Germany and Scandinavia have led the way in this “Contemporary” styling – we now have a respected  Canadian manufacturer fully capable of supplying into this design sector and providing  a quality product (in a timely manner) that we can all be proud to have in our home and tell our friends ……… this is Canadian!

We will have door displays in our showroom by mid October and full cabinet displays installed by Christmas – please stay tuned for upcoming announcements. Ekko Cabinetry now offers  a selection of drawer systems, with this supplier,  all featuring full extension soft close German hardware by Hettich. There is a selection of  ( 4 ) drawer systems including  5/8” white or maple melamine drawer boxes, “Innotech-Atira” metal drawer systems (by Hettich),  5/8” Birch dove-tailed drawer boxes  or  5/8” Walnut drawer boxes.

We will also be introducing our new “Scilm” European style cabinetry designs free of obvious hardware detail  in a truly “modern”, sophisticated  look – sleek, elegant and uncluttered.

Now …. Do I want to go Modern, Contemporary or a Mix …..

Danish Modern,  Transitional,  Arts & Crafts,  Modern Industrial  and  Traditional styles can all be mixed in a complimentary fashion to enhance and elevate each other and provide a sleek but livable space.  In the past “contemporary” has evoked minimalist and geometric visions with horizontal lines, little or no moldings, clean, simple and uncluttered.  However , “Contemporary” has now come to simply mean a design focused “in the now” !

The particular design may vary from client to client and be as unique and variable as their personalities. We can mix not only the basic design styles but also mix mediums of stainless steel, high gloss lacquers (in virtually unlimited colour choices), exotic wood slab veneers, frosted glass inserts  …..……..  let your imagination lead the way.

A Few Basic Rules to be Guided by ……

Combining these various design directions is not a haphazard exercise - discipline in the creation is a must. A great rule to be guided by is the “60 – 30 – 10” rule for colours where 60% should be one dominant colour, 30% a secondary colour and 10% as an accent colour. With this in mind, remember  paint ! A bold paint can transform a mundane space into something contemporary and fresh or that same highlight paint treatment could “pop” an island or accent space in your kitchen or bathroom.

Once again,  “Don’t Forget the Light” – adding modern light options to your space can brighten the space and sharpen the look.

At Ekko Custom Cabinetry and Design, we strive to exceed your  expectations.  Whatever the reason for your renovation, consider this as an investment in your life and home – do it right the first time – you’ll be rewarded in your quality of life and the ultimate boost in your real estate value. Our custom kitchen and bath design staff can help you through a process that will give you the space you have dreamed of …. and deserve.
